Portrait of Eugène Gondon, 1922
Olga Boznańska
Podpisanie: Olga Boznanska
Eugène Gondon was a Parisian banker who had close contacts with the Polish artistic community in Montparnasse, including Bolesław Biegas whom he frequently hosted at his estate in Gison. Boznańska painted Gondon several times. The first portrait, regarded the most formal, was created, according to Helena Blum, about 1907 (see Blum 1964, ill. 50). Another version, made in 1922, belongs to the collection of the Museum of Art in Łódź (see Blum 1974, ill. 55). The picture presented here was shown in an exhibition at the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh in 1922.
